RECOMMENDATION

In certain women, breast size can reach large dimensions. This causes discomfort in usual activities, whether walking, going to the beach, doing some sport or simply wearing clothes. This considerable size may have a genetic origin or be influenced externally by hormones or excessive weight gain.

The solution to this problem is the removal of part of the mammary gland, using appropriate techniques to maintain a harmonious shape in each patient. The goal is to alleviate the symptoms caused by weight, whether it is back pain, pain in the back of the neck, fungal infections or dermatitis in the lower folds of the breasts (breast crease). With this technique, the areolas can be reduced.

ANESTHESIA

Epidural anesthesia or general anesthesia can be used

ADMISSION TIME

It can be 12 / 24 hours. It is usually a well-tolerated surgery.

DURATION OF THE PROCEDURE

It depends on the size of the breasts, usually between 4 to 5 hours.

POST-OPERATIVE

Breast reduction surgery or gigantoplasty is usually very well tolerated by the patient. two drains (one in each breast), which will be removed in 3-5 days.

Edema and bruises are  frequent, don't be scared, it's part of the recovery process. Wearing a bra should be continuous, without over-squeezing the wound. Must be kept for 2/3 months. It is important that the patient does not raise her arms for 30 days.

COMPLICATIONS

Although they are not frequent, it is good to mention them: hematoma, infection, seroma, opening of a point, necrosis of the skin and areola, partial loss of sensation.

DEFINITIVE RESULTS

This surgery reaches the closest result to the definitive between the sixth and 12th month, always taking into account the abrupt change in body weight and the understanding that pregnancy increases the size of the breasts. Scars are usually red in the first few months, becoming skin color one year after the intervention.
