LIPO-ABDOMINOPLASTY

Many people, in order to improve the aesthetic appearance of the abdomen, try to perform combined aesthetic procedures. Liposuction together with abdominoplasty improves abdominal flaccidity and localized fat. Generally, patients seeking these procedures have experienced major weight loss or pregnancy.

WHAT ADVANTAGES OF THIS TECHNIQUE?

The advantages that this technique can offer would be:

  • More defined body contour

  • Removal of sagging skin from the abdominal region

  • Localized adiposity removal

Therefore, the great advantage of this association is a more harmonious body. Thus, liposuction is ideal to remove excess localized adiposity and dermolipectomy aims to remove the remaining flaccid skin.

HOW IS DONE?

It's a surgery that can take 5 hours. Before performing the surgery, the surgeon draws the areas to be liposuctioned with a marker. Then it is necessary to make a cut in the abdomen in a semicircle shape, above the pubic hair, towards both sides of the waist, passing through the iliac crests. Then proceed to suture the rectus abdominis muscles, stretch the skin from the upper abdomen to the pubic region and redo the navel. In addition, localized fat liposuction is performed.

TYPE OF ANESTHESIA

Usually the anesthesia used is epidural, but general anesthesia can be used.

ADMISSION TIME

It is usually 24 hours, where the patient must get up or sit in bed to adapt to the procedure.

POSTOPERATIVE

The patient will have two drain hoses, which will be removed according to medical advice within 7 to 10 days. The drains serve to remove all the fluid that forms under the skin, preventing it from accumulating (seroma), facilitating recovery and healing.

Patients should not exert great efforts and maintain a semi-flexed posture for 15 days to avoid scarring tension. Physical exercise should be avoided for 30 to 40 days. The use of an abdominal brace should be used for 2 months.

The scar usually turns red after the first month, lightening after the year, depending on the type of skin.

COMPLICATIONS

Among the possible complications, we can mention: hematomas, seromas, infection, opening of stitches, hypertrophic scars or keloids, skin suffering, skin necrosis, thrombosis, abdominal fibrosis, retractions, dehiscence.

As cigarettes are a factor that increases the possibility of complications, smokers should avoid cigarettes one month before the procedure and one month after.

FINAL RESULT

The definitive result can be obtained after 6 months of surgery, the time required for tissue accommodation and scar maturation.
