LIPOSCULPTURE

Liposculpture is a procedure to reduce body fat in localized areas. In addition, remodeling is performed in other areas that require increased volume, providing the patient with a better body contour. This technique, despite being popularly known as weight loss surgery, has a more marked effect on defining the body silhouette and not so much on modifying the weight on the scale.

In liposculpture, part of the removed fat is filtered and processed and then fills part of the tissues that need more volume, whether on the face, face, buttocks, etc. Surgical time may be a little longer than liposuction, as it would take extra time to proceed with fat grafting (lipotransfer).

The best results are obtained in patients with a small amount of localized fat, bearing in mind that areas with a greater volume of adipose tissue are more likely to leave irregularities and asymmetries.

ADMISSION TIME

It usually varies between 12 and 24 hours depending on the extent and intensity of liposuction.

ANESTHESIA

Local infiltration (Klein's solution) usually combined with sedation, epidural or general anesthesia.

HOW IS THE POST-OPERATIVE?

There is usually edema (swelling) and ecchymosis (change in skin color, product of mild hematoma) These symptoms disappear between 20 to 30 days after surgery.

During the first month after surgery, the patient shows a marked improvement in the edema, hardening in the liposuctioned regions, a product of internal scarring. Around the 2nd and 3rd month, this improves and there is a greater skin retraction. An elastic abdominal brace should be put on for 1 to 2 months to help with the result of the body shaping. It is very important to start with manual lymphatic drainage after the seventh postoperative day and, if necessary, ultrasound will be performed after the 21st postoperative day. This procedure aims to reduce edema, improve hardening and speed recovery.

On the other hand, the surgeon will instruct the patient to place a subcutaneous anticoagulant for 10 days after surgery and wear an elastic compression stocking for 13 days.

POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS

It is a surgical procedure and complications may occur such as: edema, inflammation, ecchymosis, fibrosis and irregularities in the treated areas, thrombosis, embolism.

Fluid accumulation (seroma) is the most common complication of major liposuctions. In the case of large quantities, for resolution, lymphatic drainage will be punctured and/or performed. There is usually a very good recovery, without leaving sequelae for the patient.

WHEN DO I REACH A RESULT CLOSE TO THE FINAL?

Like all abdominal cosmetic surgery, it requires physical care and eating behavior. The results are progressive and need a good complement, such as manual lymphatic drainage and ultrasound. The patient will achieve a result of 80% in 4 months and 100% in 6 months.
