It is a surgery indicated for those patients who have sagging and excess facial skin within a moderate to mild level.

The purpose of the surgery is to remove excess skin, correct facial sagging, reducing static wrinkles, improving the patient's appearance and leaving a youthful-looking face.

RECOMMENDATION

Those patients who have facial sagging within a mild to moderate level. Large facial wrinkles will be referred as a complete facelift case.

HOW IS IT DONE?

Small incisions are made in the region of the ears and neck, where the subdermal planes that were weakened will be fixed and then the excess skin will be removed.

​

The scar is hidden, found in the anterior and posterior region of the ear and in the posterior part of the scalp.

​

TYPE OF ANESTHESIA

It can be performed with local anesthesia combined with sedation or general anesthesia.

ADMISSION TIME

It can be within 12 to 24 hours

POSTOPERATIVE

Postoperative care is very important for the patient to have a good final result.

​

Generally, the first dressing is performed after 48 hours, the patient may find themselves with edema (swelling) and ecchymosis (redness) in the manipulated region, which usually resolves within 14 days.

​

Pain on recovery is not expected, however, temporary loss of sensitivity may occur within the recovery period.

​

Exposure to the sun should be avoided for 30 days, with the intention of avoiding bleeding, accentuating the edema and not modifying the healing color.

COMPLICATIONS

They are uncommon, as long as pre- and post-operative care is followed. May be cited: bruises, opening stitches, infections, skin necrosis, changes in scars, nerve damage, loss of sensation. It is important to stop smoking one month before and one month after surgery.

FINAL RESULT

Most patients achieve a final result within six months of the intervention. It is important to mention that weight changes, such as losing weight and/or gaining weight, can compromise the expected result of the surgery, as it was planned within the patient's current physical state.
